Well hello there!
It has been a busy old week! Over the last seven to fourteen days, I have written an awful lot! It's getting to the end of the first semester here at uni, and that means the end of module deadlines. And let me tell you, this is even less fun than it sounds!
I've had to read about nine academic journals, summarise seven of them in 350 words, and write an essay centring around the other two. Not. Fun. Alongside this, I've had to write a 600-word article, create a research folder, and annotate a bibliography. And I thought studying journalism would be easy.
I surprised myself by getting my work finished by Thursday evening - a whole day ahead of the deadline! This meant that I got to spend Friday relaxing. I got tickets to see Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes in a pretty small venue, and I curled up in my favourite coffee shop and read my book for an hour. Ooh, and I saw the mighty Enter Shikari play a very small gig - what a sweatfest that was!
(Sidenote: it's definitely not my favourite coffee shop because of the cute guy that works there... Nope... No way...)
During this word-heavy week, I actually did some nice stuff. I found a new coffee shop that's perfect to work in! There's an abundance of plug sockets for when my laptop inevitably dies. The tea and cake are amazing. And it's dog-friendly! How amazing is that?! I can sip tea and cuddle dogs all in the same place! I discovered this place when a coursemate messaged me asking for recommendations - I've never been happier to be known as "the hipster coffee shop girl"! It will forever be my legacy.
You'll be reading this on (hopefully) Sunday morning as that's when I've scheduled it to go live. This evening I'm going out for dinner with my family after working an exhausting 8.30am to 4pm shift at work. Yes, work! On a Sunday! Curse the consumerism in this country!
I'm looking forward to writing the next instalment of my weeks when I'm having some time off from uni... I'll be well-rested and much less stressed... Maybe!
I hope you're all well, and I'll hear from you soon!
Dottie.
Sounds like a busy week! Glad you got to have some rest though :) x
